The ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 got off to a colourful and spectacular start this evening with a magnificient opening inaugural ceremony at the Bangabandhu national stadium.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who declared the tournament open hoped that the fraternity among nations will be further strengthened through the World Cup Cricket tournament. She said it was matter of great pride
for Bangladesh to host the opening ceremony of the World Cup along with eight matches of the tournament.
ICC President Mr. Sharad Pawar described the occasion as an historic moment for Bangladesh and was confident that the ICC World Cup 2011 will be one which all the fans will remember for years to come.
Thousands of spectators who were present at the stadium were left mesmerised with the opening ceremony which show cased the cultures of the three countries India, Bangladesh and Srilanka.
